PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT BORDERING KARAWATHA
The Society needs the help of its members and friends to curtail the proposed development of 58.4 ha of land bordering Karawatha at Berrinba.
The land in question is situated on the corner of Illaweena St and Wembley Road Berrinba.

This land is currently zoned Rural Residential.
The developer is applying for a preliminary application for material change of use overriding the planning scheme pursuant to section 3.1.6 of the Integrated planning Act.
This application proposes up to 550 dwellings with supporting retail and commercial land use.
We are concerned about the unprecedented impact of such a human presence so close to Karawatha Forest. Wherever construction has occurred in the past the impact has been detrimental to the Forest. This proposal will put high density residential issues right up against the Forest. The edge effects will be far-reaching and permanent.
